Lucas McIntyre

Bachelors of Science in Construction Management from Arizona State University
Lucas has been invested in health and fitness his whole life but was getting tired of the same cliche gym routine. After hearing about CrossFit from friends he gave it a try and never looked back. He started with Crossfit as a way to stay in shape and has built it into a lifestyle that he wants everyone to experience. Lucas brings a positive atmosphere and that helps build our great community at Free Range Crossfit. He has a strong passion for teaching and sharing movement philosophy and technique with others and is excited to continue to coach, train, compete, and grow with the Free Range Family.
Trevor Mernitz
CrossFit Trainer, Level 1
USA Olympic Weight Lifting, Level 1
Bachelors of Science in Nutrition from Arizona State University
From hiking, cross-country cycling, mountain biking, running on the road, running on the trail, and playing every sport that involves a ball, Trevor has always been active. Fitness became a part of his life at a young age and by studying nutrition at ASU Trevor hoped to take his physical performance in all of those areas to the next level through food. After some mixed results that never really amounted to the high goals he set for himself – like running a half-marathon or dunking a basketball – Trevor started training with CrossFit. From that point on, his life and approach to health and movement completely changed. Trevor’s energy is contagious and competing with or against him can help elevate your abilities to new levels. He shares his passion for the sport of fitness while continuing to grow as an athlete himself.
Alexandra Carswell Engle
CrossFit Trainer, Level 1
BA in International Relations
Candidate for doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine
Alex was introduced to CrossFit after playing competitive team sports my whole life and several years of teaching group exercise classes and triathlon programs. Coming from an endurance sport background of primarily competitive swimming and triathlons, the switch to high intensity functional movements and olympic lifting an eye-opener! She reached a new level of fitness and fell in love with “WODing”. Health and fitness are Alex’s two passions in life, which are the underlying elements of CrossFit – what a match! She is currently a second year Naturopathic medical student learning all she can about the human body and particularly human movement and nutrition. Anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, pathology – this is her passion. Have any kinesiology or mobility questions or concerns? Let her know!
Outside of Free Range you’ll probably find her at Whole Foods getting some healthy food, at a health conference, a sports game or just outside enjoying the water and sunshine!
David Downey
CF Level 1 Trainer
Bachelor of Science in Communication
Minor in Business Administration
Minor in Spanish
David was introduced to CrossFit after years of having the same old routine with minimal results in the “big box” gyms. He saw the benefits and potential within the first few classes and immediately wanted to “share the love” with others. To Dave, CrossFit is more than just working out, it encompasses the determination, drive, ambition and enthusiasm you need to succeed in all that you do. Setting goals and continuously striving to achieve the uncommon uncommonly well engulfs his sense of being a CrossFit athlete and trainer. The opportunity to improve and empower people to change their lives is what motivates him to keep pushing that extra mile or finish that extra rep.
When Dave is not at Free Range coaching or “WODing”, you will find him outside doing something active or at his 9-5 making deals happen! Forever EMBRACING, EMPOWERING, EVOLVING, CrossFit is his passion and he enjoys sharing it with the world.
